Learn to paint luscious landscapes alla prima, using solvent-free oil painting materials. This method is particularly useful for painters who plan to paint outdoors, en plein air. Classes will include demos, structured exercises, individual instruction on your own projects, and critique. Beginners are welcome to join the class, and learn a step-by-step process for building successful paintings. Max students, 12. $85/3 wks.
STILL LIFE SESSIONS

This is an opportunity to sharpen your color perception by observing a subject from life. Karen will open her studio and set up still life subjects for people to paint. She will demo a still life, and participants are welcome to either watch, or work on their own compositions. There will be no structured exercises during this session, but painters are welcome to ask for help and feedback as they work. Bring your usual painting supplys plus a plastic dropcloth to protect the floor. Standing easel recommended. Max students, 8. $20/1 wk.
Classes will repeat in a monthly cycle, with three weeks of instruction at the Lakewood Center, followed by 1 optional still-life session at the studio. This will allow maximum flexibility for students (and even the teacher) who may have travel plans or other activities to work around. Register for 3-week OIL PAINTING CLASS and 1-week STILL LIFE SESSION separately.
